April 3

The kids have been learning all about the layers of the rain forest!  We have been practicing a song to help us remember all four; the emergent, canopy, understory, and forest floor.  They also know the different animals that live in each part!

The kids continue to rock place value!  Today they looked at  two digit numbers and counted tens and ones to match.  We also learned a new train game.  They roll a number cube twice and add that many cars to a train, when they get to ten they push the cars together and count the left over ones.  The partner with the greater number gets a point!

The kids are working so hard on their animal presentations.  Today they drew large animals and are starting to paint them.

They really enjoyed reading Clever Tortoise.  We read about a quarrel two boastful characters, Hippopotamus and Elephant, have about who is strongest.  They were surprised by the trick the clever Tortoise came up with!
