November 7th

The kids were busy with Mrs. Burton this morning while I attended a District writing meeting.  When I returned I found kids partnered up, comparing numbers by playing "war."  Today was a bit trickier because they were responsible for writing the numbers and putting in the greater than, less than, or equal to symbol.

In writing, the kids each selected one of the fancy animal words we learned, a movement for their animal, and a place on the farm for the animal.  They wrote some really STRONG sentences! They have been working so hard to check off each component of 5 star writing; start with an uppercase, end with punctuation, use spaces between words, write neatly, and make sense.

To finish up our day we read The Little Red Hen Makes a Pizza.  We orally compared and contrasted the story to The Little Red Hen and the Ear of Wheat that we read yesterday.  They were so engaged and really loved the story!

Tomorrow is the BIG day!!  The basket auction and free chili dinner is from 5-9!  Please plan on joining us!  There will be childcare provided.  Check out our basket!  Thank you to everyone who donated!  The total value of our basket is well over $500!
