November 6

We have been having a lot of fun learning about farm animals, especially since we kick off our day with this!

In writing we have been learning strong words for animals, movements, and places on the farm.  Tomorrow we will change our wimpy sentences into STRONG sentences about farm animals.

We have read Mrs. Wishy-Washy's Farm and The Little Red Hen and the Ear of Wheat.  They have learned the vocabulary words, anxious, moans, huddle, idle, scrumptious, and productive.  It was so cute to hear one of our students say, "My mom is PRODUCTIVE!"  The kids have been busy listening and telling the last sound of words.  We also added here and this to our sight words.

In math we have been comparing numbers using greater than, less than, and equal.  Today the kids played a game similar to the card game war with a partner.  Judging by the celebratory cheers and groans of defeat I would say they understand the skill!

Don't forget to have your child practice dressing and undressing in their cold weather clothing.  It is hard to get ready to go when your coat sleeves are inside out and zipping your coat is a challenge!
