November 19

Today we continued our study of the first Thanksgiving.  We learned that it was actually called the 1621 Harvest Celebration and it lasted 3 days.  We learned a lot of valuable information from this site.  We ran out of time to explore everything so it might be fun to investigate with your young historian!

We once again spun the "WHEEL OF TEENS!" to help us understand that teen numbers have one ten.  The kids used a stick of ten linker cubes and some single cubes to represent the numbers.  Then we practiced fast counting, 10-11, 12, 13.

In reading we learned three new vocabulary words; prefer, fading, and perhaps.  They did a great job using the words in context, "Perhaps I will have a hot dog for lunch!"  We made some more inferences while reading What Will the Weather Be Like Today?
