December 11

We were busy little monsters today!  We started off our day rereading Snowmen at Night (I offered to just take a picture walk but they insisted I read it!!  Yay!).  After the reading we added new ideas to our "What do snowmen do at night" chart.  The kids did some brainstorming about what they would do if they were snowmen at night.  We again moved around the room with the lights off, froze when the "sun" came up, and partnered up with a friend to share ideas.

We read The Gingerbread Boy and compared it to the characters, setting, and plot of The Gingerbread Man.  The kids then did an experiment that answered the question, "What if the gingerbread man had tried to swim across the river?"  Each table put a gingerbread cookie in a cup of water and observed what changes occurred over time.

Today we took a test that assessed how well the students could write their uppercase letters from memory.  We will do the lowercase letters this week as well.

During math we are talking about how we can put two shapes together to form a new shape.  Today we tried to figure out if we could fill a circle with squares.  Cooper hit the nail on the head when he said we couldn't because squares had corners!

Don't forget:
