October 23

We started off our day learning about bats.  The kids learned that they are mammals and have live babies that drink milk.  We also learned that the flying fox has a wingspan of 5 feet!  The bumblebee bat is only 1 inch.

Then we reviewed the story structure of Stellaluna.  The kids drew pictures from the beginning, middle, and end of the story.

In math the kids were introduced to a five frame.  This is a tool we will use to help us understand number combinations to five.  We took turns telling stories about 5 m&ms, some red and some yellow.

In reading groups the kids assembled nocturnal animal puppets.  They will use them to help teach their friends about their animal on Friday.

We closed out our day with a reading of Hallo-Weiner.  We identified the characters, setting (place and time), and the beginning, middle, and end.

Don't forget to pick up cookie dough from 4-8 tonight!  Also, stop by for a free taco dinner from 5-7!
