October 11

Look at the great art the kids created this morning!
We watched an animated version of the book Spookley the Square Pumpkin.  It taught us that everyone is unique and has special abilities.  Then the kids created their own unique pumpkins using the papers they made during our painting party!  They turned out so cute!
.

After recess we discussed Sparky and Eddie: First Day of School.  The kids chatted with their partners about how the boys feelings changed from the beginning to the end of the story.  We also reviewed all of our fancy vocabulary words; precisely, gigantic, announce, proceed, imaginary, active, glum, whimper, gasped, apparel, sly, and voyage.

After reading groups we enjoyed some goldfish crackers and milk while I read, Monster Munchies.  After the story the kids created monsters!  The number of eyes, teeth, arms, legs, horns, hairs, and stripes were determined by kids rolling a 10-sided dice.  It was a lot of fun and the perfect way to end our MONSTERiffic first quarter!

I am looking forward to chatting with you next week!
