Today we learned about our body's digestive system.  The kids learned that it starts with our mouths, goes through our esophagus, into our stomach, through the intestines, and the waste comes out as poop!  I think they were very surprised that they were allowed to talk about poop at school!

We continued to identify characters in the book What Will Mommy Do When I'm at School?  I heard that many of you exercise, clean up, and make lunches while your kiddos are at school!  We learned 3 more fancy words; lonely, reminds, and preoccupied.

At recess some of the kids saw a small toad hopping around.  Charles and I tried to catch it but he was too quick for us!

We focused on the letter Nn and the /n/ sound.  Acy even brought in a nest he found near his house!

The kids practiced greater than and less than using the alligator mouth.  They also worked independently to identify groups that contained more.  If your kindergartener is having trouble with this concept ask them if they would rather have five m&ms or 3 m&ms, etc.  This is a tricky concept to grasp!  We will continue to work on number sense all year!

Tomorrow I have a meeting at the District Office and will be gone for the first hour of class.  The kids will be surprised when they see who will be visiting!

Don't forget the Thursday is Pirate Day and your child should dress the part!  Also, please let me know if you are able to attend the Kindergarten Family Picnic.
