September 18

Today we heard from our final Wild Thing, Miss Addy Kay Holle!  She was a wonderful presenter, she spoke clearly and loudly.  We learned that she does not care for bumblebees but loves rainbows!  Her favorite food is popcorn because it is buttery and salty (perfect description during our 5 senses study!).  When she grows up she would like to be a surfer!

We focused on our hearing today.  The kids listened to some sounds on CD and then had to match that sound to a picture.  We heard a telephone, clapping hands, music, and a thunder storm!  Then we visited the center room for some hands-on science!

In reading we focused on the characters in the story Bee-Bim-Bop!  It is a story about a family that works together to make their favorite dinner together.  It ties in perfectly as we move on to studying our families next week and celebrate during our picnic!  We learned three new fancy words; savor, urgency, and appetite.

In math we worked on the positional words left and right.  Whew!  This is a tough one for kinders!  We did "The Big Bear Wobble" (similar to the Hokey Pokey) and wore a red wristband for right and a yellow wristband for left.  We attempted to do a sheet about left and right but the directions weren't explained well.  So, when you see the papers come home tonight don't worry if it isn't done correctly!  This would be a great skill to practice as you go on a bike ride, walk, or even riding in the car.  Just ask the kids which way they should turn!
