September 17

Kudos to all of the friendly faces I had helping out this morning!  Mr. Graham was a Watchdog and helped get texture bags ready for the kids as well as completed our birthday board!  Mrs. Graham worked with some of our kinders on letters and beginning sounds.  Mrs. Holle helped get assessing done for greater than/less than.  AND...Mrs. Alt made a Sonic run for Mrs. Pemberton and I!  Not to mention the mommies who sent texture materials in their students' backpacks!  What an awesome way to start a Monday!  I am just so impressed at how our Sunflower community pulls together to make school the best for our kiddos!

We heard from the lovely Miss Emmy Holle this morning who loves ladybugs but does not like bumblebees!  The little sweetie wants to be a teacher when she grows up so that she can help kids.  She shared her doll named Lucy with us.  Lucy is special because her hands and head are breakable and her great grandma gave her to Emmy.

This morning we started to learn about our 5 senses.  We started off with sight.  The kids looked in mirrors and identified their eye color.  They also learned that their eyes give them information about color, shape, size, and depth.  We went to the center room to experience our 5 senses tubs.  The kids thought it was cool to taste things that are bitter, sweet, salty, and sour.  Another big hit was finger painting with scented paint!

This week we are focusing on positional words in math.  We sand "Where is Monkey" and played a game using positional words and acting them out with our chairs.  The kids also did a preassessment which you will find in their folders.

I am working on scheduling my home visits and hope to have that put together by tomorrow.  Thank you for your preferences!
