Pirate Day!

I think today might have been the most fun I have ever had teaching kindergarten!  I think the kids may feel the same!  It was an absolute blast seeing them in their pirate gear, drawing facial hair and scars on their sweet faces, and giving them tattoos!  Seeing them interact as pirates was just plain fun!

They basically ran the entire way to the park!  Myself and some mommies hardly could keep up!  Once at the park they found all of the doubloons and traded them for their treasures.  The treasure map, eye patches, and jewels were big hits!  Then they played pirates at the park (all great P words!!).

After computers we did some pirate activities during reading groups.  Ask your child to read your The Pirate in their best pirate voice!

Caleb shared his Wild Thing report and brought in a stuffed parrot!  It was perfect for pirate day!  He wants to be a paleontologist when he grows up because he LOVES dinosaurs.  He also loves brownies but not bees!  Miss Abi brought in some delicious pirate cupcakes to share with us!  It was the perfect way to end the day!

  2. Caleb wore his pirate costume all day! He was also excited to see that the public library has some pirate books on display right now because "talk like a pirate" day is Sept 19th.
