Fall Catch Up!

Fall has overtaken our classroom!  Last week we went on a leaf hunt and used our five senses to make detailed descriptions to pump up our writing.  The kids really enjoyed making leaf prints to go with it.

We also had a lot of fun exploring pumpkins during science!  We dissected, labeled, and learned about the life cycle.  The kids suggested we carve a W into the pumpkin, aren't' they too cute!?  (A big thanks to our photographer Ava!)

The kids took notes on how to carve a jack-o-lantern.  They then wrote a process piece in their science journals.

We ended the week with a wonderful Fall Festival!  The kids enjoyed some fire safety magic from Mrs. Skillman's talented daddy.  They rotated stations throughout the first grade rooms to enjoy some Fall fun.  We had a yummy snack during "The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown."  It was a wonderful way to end the week.  Thank you to all of the parents who helped and donated to our party!

This Friday is our annual chili cook-off and basket auction!  I hope to see you there at 5:30 for some free food and great auction items!
