December 3

We kicked off our morning with one of my favorite characters, Mo Willems' Pigeon!  He is right up there with Pete the Cat!  We read Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog and Don't Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late.  Then we charted what our ornery Pigeon friend NEEDED and what he WANTED.  The kids loved it and were begging for more!  Lucky for them we will have more tomorrow!

In math we read Snowballs and talked about how real snowballs are spheres and the pictures in the book were circles.  We discussed the differences between 2D and 3D shapes and then make a 2D snowman.  The problem was that we didn't have all of the shapes we needed.  Luckily the kids soon discovered that if they put two half circles together they got a circle, two triangles made a rectangle, and two squares together made another rectangle!

We reviewed our vocabulary words, creep, nestle, and arrive by acting them out.

There is a book fair flyer in your kiddo's folder.  Be sure to check it out for news about "Parents and Pastries!"  Don't forget that next week is dress up week to help promote reading!
